Protecting your children’s sensitive skin from harmful UV rays is a top priority. It’s essential to safeguard babies and children, as their skin is much more delicate than adults’. Repeated exposure to sunlight can lead to severe skin damage and increase the risk of skin cancer later in life.
Following guidelines backed by the NHS, we recommend keeping children under six months out of direct sunlight. From March to October in the UK, children should:
- Cover up with suitable clothing.
- Protect areas not protected by clothing, such as the face, ears, feet, and back of the hands.

Popular holiday spots like Devon and Cornwall can each see up to 40 missing children cases daily during the summer, according to the RNLI.
